They say that a dog is a man’s best friend. I wholeheartedly believe this. My little dog is laying at my feet as I
speak type. She is such a loyal, loving little dog and she would follow me to the ends of the earth. We have the most spectacular bond. Sometimes I think there is no other animal-human connection like it. However, this theory was definitely proven false at Mattie and Dustin’s wedding. Their Border Collie, Shiner, was at their wedding and he never let them leave his sight.
Before the ceremony, Shiner was with Dustin and his boys. It was obvious how much Shiner loves his human. He kept his eyes on Dustin at all times, listened to every command, and he behaved perfectly. Meanwhile, Mattie was getting ready with her ladies in the bridal suite and anxiously awaiting the pre-ceremony prayer she would share with Dustin. Mattie and Dustin decided not to have a first look, but still wanted to share a few special moments before they said their vows. They each stood on opposite sides of the door, prayed and held hands for the last time as an unmarried couple. It was such an intimate and personal moment between the bride and groom – a moment many couples never have the luxury of having.
There is something to be said about a strong, fearless Marine tearing up as he sees his Bride walking toward him for the first time. It absolutely gave me goosebumps. Mattie and Dustin’s day was filled with so much emotion from this point forward and there were so many endearing moments. My little heart simply swelled with happiness watching these events take place. During their first Dance, Shiner looked upon his parents with so much love and pride. It is something I can’t quite describe, but it was almost as if he understood everything that had taken place that day. This was followed by incredibly genuine speeches from their bridal party. It was all just so sweet and so perfect for the two of them. Their friends and family were just so pleased that Mattie and Dustin were starting their new life together. So pleased that they danced and played in the Swanky Photobooth the entire night! We are wishing Mattie and Dustin (and Shiner!) many exciting adventures in their new life and new home together!
